The Product
Pyr-Stop is a wildfire detection and response concept that aims to combine autonomous sensing, data integration, and human-in-the-loop decision support into a coherent operational tool.
What Pyr-Stop Aims to Do
Pyr-Stop is focused on the critical window between ignition and escalation, with particular emphasis on night-time operations, early detection, and predictive fire path intelligence. By combining multiple sensing and intelligence inputs, the platform is designed to improve situational awareness and support faster, more informed response before a wildfire spreads.
The system is intended to work alongside existing emergency response structures, integrating with operational workflows while keeping human oversight at the centre of critical decisions.
Safety, accountability, and controlled autonomy are core principles of the architecture.
Key Capabilities (Designed)
- ✓Night-time operational focus: Designed to support wildfire detection and response in low-visibility conditions.
- ✓Multi-sensor intelligence: Intended to improve detection confidence through the fusion of complementary data sources.
- ✓Predictive fire path modelling: Designed to support assessment of likely fire spread and response prioritisation.
- ✓Early-alert pipeline: Designed to surface potential ignitions to operators in near real time.
- ✓Operational integration: Targets compatibility with GIS, CAD, and field communication platforms.
- ✓Human oversight layer: All critical actions gated on operator authorisation.
- ✓Reporting & audit trail: Designed to maintain a complete log of detections, alerts, and decisions.
Coordinated Swarm Response
Pyr-Stop is designed to support coordinated multi-drone operations rather than relying on a single autonomous asset. This approach is intended to improve coverage, resilience, and response speed during the earliest stage of wildfire escalation.
By distributing sensing, verification, and response tasks across multiple aerial assets, the platform is designed to strengthen operational flexibility while reducing dependence on any single point of failure. It also supports future scalability across larger and more complex environments.
Night-time Operations
A core focus of Pyr-Stop is supporting wildfire detection and response in low-visibility conditions. The platform is designed to strengthen situational awareness during periods when conventional aerial monitoring and suppression capabilities may be more constrained.
This night-time operational capability is central to Pyr-Stop's value proposition: enabling earlier detection, improved assessment, and faster response during the hours when wildfire growth can otherwise go unnoticed.
Who It's Designed For
Fire & Rescue Agencies
Earlier detection and richer situational awareness for dispatch and command.
Utilities & Grid Operators
Monitoring of fire risk in proximity to critical infrastructure.
Land & Forest Managers
Continuous coverage of large areas that are impractical to patrol manually.
Insurers & Risk Assessors
Structured data on detection events and response timelines.
Stage of Development
Pyr-Stop is currently at the concept and early-development stage. We reached the Semifinals of the XPRIZE Wildfire competition (Track B) and are now pursuing pilot opportunities and development partnerships independently.
We are engaging with agencies and organisations to understand real-world requirements and to scope initial pilot deployments.
